The Beekeeper (2024)
Just stupid
Some how a lot of reviewers were able to look past the bad plot since this is an action movie. I'm not going to do that. Even action movies need to have a basic believable plot. This simply did not. Add in the bad directing and awful acting and you have a waste of time on your hands. This is where I need to point out that I wasn't even able to finish the movie. Not even sure if I made it half way. From the little I saw, I knew there could be no redemption. This is basically the same tough character Jason Stathem always plays but surrounded by an awful plot, bad acting by others and poor choreography. This is a B list movie better intended for release on cable.
The Last Airbender (2010)
I figured it out
I think most of not all the reviewers got things wrong here. These reviewers are adults reviewing a movie made for children. It's rated PG and made by Nickelodeon studios. They also made Dora and Rugrats movies. Again those were made for kids. It's tough because the Avatar series appealed to kids and adults. I think because the series is really Anime. This movie is NOT anime. It also has no little to no humor. The special effects are GREAT and have aged well even to today's standards. The screenplay stayed true to the series as well. I originally watched the movie before I had kids and thought it was hot trash. But after having kids, I finally get who the movie was made for. Adults take your sophisticated perspective elsewhere.
Smile (2022)
Better than expected
This rating is solely based on the category of horror movies which for me is a category funded with bad plots, dumb characters, sand other rehashed items. This was one of the best virus movies I've seen in years because it escaped most of that. I got a few chills and even a jump in my seat. I hadn't had that in many years.
The only negative I have is that the last 30 minutes or so came apart a little. There were long pauses between the next scare. This could've been edited down as some scenes were unnecessary. Also the demon villain looked more like a rock band member than something scary.
If definitely see it again and hope there is a sequel.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Still amazing
I've watched this one a few times and it's still amazing. Its clear that this influenced Spiderman No Way Home. Because of that, I had to come back and finally leave a review.
Dune (2021)
Epic
I'll keep this short. I watched it at home on a 110" screen and a 11.2 speaker set up. It's so epic I want to go and watch it in a commercial theater now. That's never happened with any other movie I've seen.
Wonder Park (2019)
The magic of imagination
This is a great movie. Me while family really likes it. It's funny and teaches some good lessons along the way. I'm not sure why some reviewers felt it didn't meet their expectations. Really, I'm not sure why they went into it expecting anything but a fun family movie.
Artemis Fowl (2020)
Please don't watch this
I've never read any of the books, so this review is strictly on the movie. It's just terrible. There really isn't anything good to say about it. I wish I read the reviews before seeing it. I could've saved 2.5 hours of my life that I can't get back. No the movie isn't that long, but I kept falling asleep on it and had to remind a few times. Turns out I wasn't missing anything while asleep. None of it made any sense.
