After keeping loyal readers waiting for two years, Lady Whistledown finally made her return in season three of Netflix’s smash hit regency romance ‘Bridgerton.’ Each season follows the love story of one of the Bridgerton children, based on the eight-book series by Julia Quinn. The title ‘Bridgerton’ has become synonymous with steaminess and scandal, with the first season being labeled as a “bodice ripper” with many passionate love scenes between its leads, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page). Season two lightened up a bit with the enemies-to-lovers arc between the eldest Bridgerton son, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley), the sister of his betrothed. So, where does season three lie? It seems to be too soon to say. Only the first four episodes of ‘Bridgerton’ season three dropped on May 16, with the second half coming almost a month later on June 13. Wallflower Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlin) is...

One of the best things about Bridgerton is that the show rarely repeats itself. Just as Julia Quinn's book series, on which the show is based, explored a different love story in each novel, the show does the same with its seasons. Starting with Daphne Bridgeton, moving on to Anthony, and then Colin, it also introduces viewers to different romance tropes.
While the novel format allowed the story to revolve around one couple and follow them every moment, the TV show has to include the ensemble to expand the world and make the story feel as realistic as possible. However, it wasn't until season 3 that the show found the perfect balance between the main characters and all the subplots.
Is Bridgerton Season 3 Good?
So far, viewers have only seen the first 4 episodes of the third season of Bridgerton, but the majority of viewers were very pleased with what they saw.

As Bridgerton fans dive into the first episodes of Season 3 on Netflix, many are wondering what exactly happened to major supporting character Lord Featherington.
Portrayed by Ben Miller, Lord Archibald Featherington is the father of multiple characters from the Bridgerton story, including Prudence, Phillippa, Penelope, and their other siblings.
Often looked down upon by his peers, Lord Featherington hid a darkness to him throughout Season 1, often risking everything he loved courtesy of a near-crippling gambling addiction.

Based on Julia Quinn’s Romancing Mister Bridgerton Season 3 of Netflix and Shondaland’s Bridgerton watches the friends-to-lovers romance between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) bloom. While their book comes fourth in the series after Benedict’s love story, the show has moved their installment up in the order of Bridgerton sibling romances. Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) love story also intertwines more significantly in the expanded two-part season, with Part 1 releasing May 16 on Netflix and Part 2 June 13.
Ahead of Season 3 Part 1’s launch, showrunner Jess Brownell, producer Shonda Rhimes and author Julia Quinn confirmed that an important scene in which Colin cuts his hand would feature in the show. This scene first sparks Colin’s more-than-platonic consideration of Penelope as she bandages his hand. She had been sneaking a look at his diary and reading his writing about his travels, and he gets angry with her,...

Warning: contains spoilers for Bridgerton season 2.
Of all the separations shown in Bridgerton’s second season, the finale bust-up between Penelope and Eloise was perhaps the most painful. The former best friends who grew up across the street from one another had once been book-loving accomplices. They’d found solace in each other’s company, away from the ribbons-and-marriage-filled heads of other girls their age. When Eloise told Pen that she never wished to see or speak to her again, they weren’t the only ones heartbroken about it.
That heartbreak continues in season three, the first four episodes of which are now streaming on Netflix, while the second half will follow on June 13. Months later, Pen and Eloise are still not speaking, while Pen is also keeping her distance from Eloise’s brother Colin, the man she secretly loves, after he unwittingly hurt her feelings at the Featherington ball.

While there are many romantic period dramas that viewers absolutely adore, not a single title can compete with Bridgerton. The show about 8 siblings navigating the world of love and intrigue in a highly fictionalized Regency London left everyone hot and heavy after the steamy season 1, and stressed out after the love triangle of season 2.
Now that season 3 has almost arrived, viewers are ready to celebrate the friends-to-lovers trope represented by Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. The first part of the season premieres tomorrow, May 16. To remind yourself of how the relationship between Colin and Penelope has progressed over the years, check out their key moments below.
The Very First Dance (S1E1)
There was nothing sweeter than the very first dance we saw between the two characters. Colin was kind and noble to save Penelope from Cressida Cowper's bullying, taking her to the floor when no one else would. The...

Dearest readers: It’s Bridgerton Week at IndieWire. We’re celebrating the new season by diving deep on one of the best romance shows on TV.
Lady Whistledown’s innovation among the scandal sheets is that she uses people’s names to dish about marriage-mart gossip. But the “Bridgerton” costume department has had quite a novel innovation on an old form, too, and one we deem worthy of celebration.
How we feel about old-timey clothes is influenced by an intuitive set of conventions that reflect our contemporary fashion tastes. A costume designer’s choice of color, silhouette (the outline or shape of a garment), fabric, and texture all work to tell us who is conceited, who is shy, and who is, as Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) would put it, a sparkler.
But if one looks at costumes from Regency romances 10 or 15 years before “Bridgerton” first aired in 2020 — your “Pride & Prejudice...

In the first scene of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Charlotte (India Amarteifio) sulks in a carriage en route to marry King George. Her brother jokes that she hasn’t moved in six hours.
Charlotte scowls and responds: “The gown sits atop a bespoke underpinning made of whalebone. The problem with whalebone is that it is rather sharp. I am in the height of fashion, so this corset is quite snug. If I move too much, I might be sliced and stabbed to death by my undergarments. I am angry and I cannot breathe. Turn this carriage around or I will bounce. I will impale myself on this ridiculous corset and bleed to death.”
This monologue is great for setting up Charlotte’s feistiness. But Charlotte is very misinformed about her own underwear. European women in the 1760s called their structured undergarments “stays” not “corsets.” Stays weren’t made with...

Bridgerton Season 3 is bringing Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton) love story to life from Julia Quinn’s Romancing Mister Bridgerton. However, a key character from Polin’s book is not featured in the Netflix show at all: Felicity Featherington. Another Featherington sister?! Yes, there’s another one in the book series! Felicity is closest to Penelope within the Featherington family and the youngest sibling. She’s also a dear friend to Hyacinth Bridgerton. In the Netflix series, Penelope only has two siblings, Prudence (Bessie Carter) and Philippa (Harriet Cains). Showrunner Jess Brownell explains Felicity’s absence in the show to TV Insider. “I think [that] was a smart decision. I think that was a decision made by Chris Van Dusen and Shonda [Rhimes] early on in the pilot,” Brownell says. “It just gets hard to characterize three siblings, especially when the Featheringtons are in a secondary position. The main...

Lachlan Murdoch has had a lot to prove and the stakes just got quite a bit higher as Murdoch senior is set to depart the Fox and News Corp. boards, formalizing a transition underway for years.
Lachlan will be sole chairman of both companies and succession, for years an open question, is firmly settled. But uncertainty still lurks. Rupert Murdoch holds 40% of Fox and News Corp. voting stock through a family trust, which, post-Rupert, will pass to Lachlan and his oldest siblings – James, Elisabeth and Prudence. If they wanted to, and it’s not clear they do, the three could out-vote Lachlan to sell Fox, restructure it, push him out. “I think that is a question mark,” said one analyst. “I have no idea how that is going to play out.”
Liberal-leaning James left the family business over editorial and political differences and there may be a rift. “Who...

Rupert Murdoch, the 92-year-old Australian media magnate whose creation of Fox News made him a force in American politics, is stepping down as leader of both Fox’s parent company and his News Corp. media holdings.
Fox said Thursday that Murdoch would become chairman emeritus of both companies, effective at board meetings in November. His son, Lachlan, will become News Corp. chairman and continue as chief executive officer of Fox Corp.

The fictional Roy family of "Succession" is often compared to the real-life Murdoch media dynasty, which owns the conglomerate News Corp and the Fox brand. The parallels are far from coincidental. About a decade before "Succession" premiered, series creator Jesse Armstrong wrote a feature script, "The Murdochs," about the eponymous family. The script was never produced -- contemporary reporting at Forbes by Jeff Bercovici suggests this is because no backers were willing to fund such controversial subject matter and risk angering the Murdochs.
There's precedence. In 1941, William Randolph Hearst made it his mission to bury "Citizen Kane" because he was convinced the film was an attack on him. It's easy to imagine Murdoch, a modern-day media baron of Hearst's same stature, doing the same to a film that aired his family's dirty laundry.
This might also be why Armstrong has downplayed the connection between his show and the Murdochs. However,...
